Specialty of NLDB?

The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) is a government-owned institute responsible for managing livestock and poultry breeder farms across the country. For over fifty years, we have been a cornerstone in the livestock sector, providing millions of chicks and thousands of calves, kids, piglets, and other breeding stock annually to support the establishment and sustainability of commercial farms. Our long-standing presence has significantly contributed to the growth and transformation of the livestock and poultry industries. We have pioneered the introduction of new breeds, technologies, and training farmers and youth, setting models that have been widely adopted and expanded by the private sector over the past few decades. We are a self-financed institute which generates revenue from the output products including breeding materials, milk, egg and meat products, coconut and other agricultural products produced in our farms for meeting all expenses without depending on treasury. At the same time, we are developing our assets with the reserves for the sustainability in future. As the demand for food security and safety continues to grow, we believe NLDB's role remains crucial. We are committed to introducing new farmers, attracting investments, and further expanding the sector in the years to come to meet national needs and ensure sustainable development.
